- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels - this is crucial for achieving crispy skin. Arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a wire rack.
- Bake the chicken for 25 minutes without any sauce. This allows the skin to start crisping up and the fat to render out, creating the perfect base for the BBQ sauce.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and brush each drumstick generously with BBQ sauce, coating all sides evenly. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes.
- For extra crispiness, you can broil the chicken for the last 2-3 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
