Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat the chicken drumsticks dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Rub this seasoning mixture evenly over all sides of the drumsticks.
- Place the seasoned drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they're not touching. Bake for 25 minutes to start cooking the chicken through.
- After 25 minutes, remove the drumsticks from the oven and brush generously with BBQ sauce on all sides. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the sauce is caramelized.
- Let the drumsticks rest for 5 minutes before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat for maximum tenderness.
Notes
Pat chicken dry before seasoning for better crispiness. Don't overcrowd the baking sheet. Add BBQ sauce in the last 10-15 minutes to prevent burning. Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness at 165°F.
