- Preheat the oven to 500°F with a rack in the center
- Coat the bottom and sides of a 10- or 12-inch cast-iron pan with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Add the dough, turning to coat, then press it until it reaches the edges of the pan
- Top the dough with the sauce, spreading it into an even layer (no need to leave a border around the edges). Sprinkle with cheese then add any preferred toppings
- Bake the pizza until the crust is dark golden and slightly crispy, 10 to 15 minutes
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes in the pan before removing to slice and serve
Notes
Let pizza rest for 5 minutes in the pan before slicing for cleaner cuts and better texture. Pre-cook vegetables that release moisture to prevent soggy pizza. Dough should be at room temperature for easier handling.
