Turkey Wild Rice Bake

A hearty and healthy dish that combines lean turkey meat with wild rice and a colorful mix of vegetables, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 cup wild rice, uncooked
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until soft and translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in the sliced mushrooms, diced carrots, and diced celery. Cook for another 5 minutes until slightly softened.
  5. Add the uncooked wild rice, chicken broth, and thyme. Season with salt and pepper to taste; bring to a boil.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, cover with foil.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil, add cheese on top (if using), and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
