Traditional Chinese Pumpkin Cake

A delightful treat combining pumpkin’s natural sweetness with the chewiness of glutinous rice flour, perfect for snacks, desserts, or breakfast.

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix pumpkin puree, glutinous rice flour, sugar, and salt until well combined.
  2. Gradually add water until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into portions and shape them into small round or flat cakes, about 1/2 inch thick.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Fry the shaped cakes for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

Serve hot with a sweet sauce or dipping sauce. Can be enjoyed with Chinese tea.
