Thai Basil Fried Rice

A delicious and satisfying Thai dish that combines fragrant basil with savory sauces and vegetables. Perfect for quick weeknight meals or meal prep.

  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 1 cup chicken, diced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, bell peppers)
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chili flakes or fresh chilies for heat

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add diced chicken and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Toss in mixed vegetables and stir-fry until tender-crisp.
  5. Add cooked jasmine rice, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Gently toss everything together.
  6. Add fresh basil and stir everything together, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes.
  8. Serve hot with lime wedges or additional chilies, if desired.

Notes

Use day-old rice for the best texture. You can customize the vegetables and proteins as desired.
