Sweet Potato Casserole

A delightful dish that combines sweet potatoes, brown sugar, pecans, and fluffy marshmallows, making it a perfect comfort food for any holiday gathering.

  • 4 cups sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked and mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth.
  3. Transfer the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
  5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle marshmallows and chopped pecans evenly over the top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider adding crushed pineapple or substituting marshmallows with shredded coconut. Make nut-free by omitting pecans.
