Ingredients
Scale
2 pounds stewing beef, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
1 packet of onion soup mix (approx. 1 oz.)
1 can (10.5 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Start by trimming the stewing beef of any excess fat and cutting it into bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels.
In a mixing bowl, combine the onion soup mix, condensed cream of mushroom soup, flour, water, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
In a slow cooker, add the prepared beef pieces and pour the sauce mixture over them. Stir to coat the beef.
Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 8 hours, or high for 4 to 5 hours.
Once cooked, check the beef for tenderness and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or in a sandwich.
Notes
Browning the beef enhances the flavor. You can modify the soup base and add vegetables for variation.
