Slow-Cooked Beef in Onion Sauce

A comforting dish featuring tender beef cooked in a rich onion sauce, perfect for cozy dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds stewing beef, trimmed and cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 packet of onion soup mix (approx. 1 oz.)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Start by trimming the stewing beef of any excess fat and cutting it into bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with paper towels.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the onion soup mix, condensed cream of mushroom soup, flour, water, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  3. In a slow cooker, add the prepared beef pieces and pour the sauce mixture over them. Stir to coat the beef.
  4. Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 6 to 8 hours, or high for 4 to 5 hours.
  5. Once cooked, check the beef for tenderness and serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or in a sandwich.

Notes

Browning the beef enhances the flavor. You can modify the soup base and add vegetables for variation.
