  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme), chopped
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Additional melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix until blended.
  2. Add melted unsalted butter and warm milk to the dry mixture. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Punch down the dough, divide it into small pieces, and flatten each piece. Season with herbs and garlic powder if desired.
  7. Layer the pieces in a greased loaf pan, making sure they fit snugly.
  8. Cover and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Brush the tops with additional melted butter.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
