Monte Cristo French Toast Casserole

A delightful combination of classic Monte Cristo flavors and comforting French toast, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

  • 8 slices of French bread
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup honey ham, chopped
  • 1 cup turkey, chopped
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut the French bread into bite-sized cubes.
  3. Place half of the bread cubes in the greased baking dish.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour half of the custard mixture over the layer of bread.
  6. Layer the chopped honey ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese over the bread.
  7. Add remaining bread cubes on top.
  8. Pour the rest of the custard mixture over the top layer of bread.
  9. Sprinkle brown sugar and dot with butter on top.
  10. Let the casserole sit for about 30 minutes.
  11. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set in the center.
  12. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use day-old bread for best results and feel free to customize the meats and cheeses according to preferences.
