Monte Cristo French Toast Casserole

A delightful casserole that combines the rich flavors of French toast with savory ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese, perfect for brunch or family meals.

  • 1 loaf of French bread, cubed
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup honey ham, diced
  • 1 cup turkey, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.
  4. Layer the cubed French bread evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring all pieces are coated.
  6. Sprinkle the diced ham, turkey, and shredded Swiss cheese over the top.
  7. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter and brown sugar, and drizzle it over the casserole.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Consider using day-old bread for better texture. Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh fruit.
