Monte Cristo French Toast Casserole

A delightful dish that combines sweet and savory flavors with layers of ham, turkey, and melted Swiss cheese in a fluffy casserole.

  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup honey ham, diced
  • 1 cup turkey, diced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Powdered sugar (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cut French bread into small cubes and evenly place in the baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes, ensuring they soak up the liquid.
  5. Sprinkle diced ham, turkey, and shredded cheese over the soaked bread.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and melted butter, then drizzle over the casserole.
  7. Cover with foil and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  8. Bake covered for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving warm, dusted with powdered sugar.

Notes

Use stale bread for better absorption of the egg mixture. Customize meats and cheeses to your preference.
