Homemade Pesto Sauce

A vibrant and flavorful homemade pesto sauce made with fresh basil, garlic, nuts, and cheese.

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a food processor: Place the basil, Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, pine nuts, and garlic in the food processor.
  2. Pulse until chopped: Pulse the mixture until it is finely chopped but not yet a paste.
  3. Add olive oil: While the processor runs, slowly drizzle in the olive oil.
  4. Stir in heavy cream: Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the heavy cream.
  5. Season: Taste and add salt and pepper as needed.
  6. Serve: Use immediately or store for later.

Notes

For a deeper flavor, consider toasting the pine nuts. This pesto can also be frozen for up to 6 months.
