Homemade Garlic Knots

Delightfully soft and chewy garlic knots, perfect as a side dish or snack, with flavors of garlic and butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Gradually add the warm water to the dry ingredients and mix until a dough starts to form.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small pieces. Shape each piece into a knot.
  7. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the knots on it, spaced apart.
  8. Combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley in a bowl.
  9. Brush the garlic butter mixture over each knot and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  10. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Brush again with any remaining garlic butter before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with different herbs and spices. Cheesy garlic knots can be made by adding mozzarella cheese to the center of each knot.
