Grinch Cookies

Festive holiday cookies inspired by the beloved Dr. Seuss character, featuring a bright green hue with red heart centers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Green food coloring (gel for bright color)
  • Red heart sprinkles or red candy melts

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together in a large mixing bowl for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  2. Add in the eggs, vanilla, almond extract, and green food coloring. Mix until evenly combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms. Adjust flour if too sticky.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Flatten slightly.
  6. Press a red heart sprinkle or candy melt into the center of each cookie.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 10-12 minutes until edges are set.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a softer cookie, avoid over-baking. Experiment with toppings for variety.
