2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
4 cups sliced apples
1 cup caramel sauce
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-5 minutes.
Add in the flour, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until just combined. The dough will be crumbly.
Reserve about one cup of the dough for the topping, then press the remaining dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the crust.
Layer the apple slices over the crust. Feel free to sprinkle a little extra cinnamon if you like.
Drizzle the caramel sauce generously over the apples.
Crumble the reserved dough over the top, covering as much of the caramel layer as possible.
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
Once baked, allow the bars to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Drizzle with extra caramel and sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
