Dump and Bake Meatball Casserole

A delightful and easy one-dish meal featuring pasta, meatballs, and cheese, perfect for families.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz uncooked pasta (whole wheat or gluten-free recommended)
  • 24 oz meatballs (can substitute turkey or plant-based meatballs)
  • 24 oz marinara sauce (alternatively, use Alfredo or pesto)
  • 2 cups water (beef broth can be used for flavor)
  • 2 cups cheese (e.g., mozzarella; vegan cheese can be used for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 cup vegetables (e.g., spinach, bell peppers; add just before baking for nutrition)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare a large casserole dish by lightly spraying it with cooking spray or greasing it with olive oil.
  3. In the prepared dish, add uncooked pasta, meatballs, marinara sauce, and water. Stir well to combine.
  4. Add the vegetables if using, depending on how tender you want them.
  5. Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes.
  7. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and sprinkle cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider layering cheese or adding spices like red pepper flakes or Italian seasoning.
