Duchess Potatoes

Duchess Potatoes are a creamy twist on traditional mashed potatoes, baked to a golden-brown perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds of potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and cut the potatoes into chunks, then boil them in salted water until tender.
  3. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  4. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and egg yolks. Mash until smooth and mixed well.
  5. Stir in grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag and pipe onto a baking sheet in decorative swirls.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

Notes

Make sure to boil the potatoes until they are very tender for a smooth mash. You can customize with different cheeses or mix in cooked spinach or herbs.
