Delicious Italian Christmas Cookies

Melt-in-your-mouth Italian Christmas Cookies with a blend of vanilla and almond extracts, perfect for festive gatherings.

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk (or water)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Food coloring
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time and add vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Gradually combine wet and dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  6. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Let cool on a wire rack.
  9. For frosting, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  10. Decorate cookies with frosting, food coloring, and sprinkles.
  11. Let frosting set before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
