Crispy Fried Chicken Livers

  • 1 lb chicken livers, fresh and cleaned
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse the chicken livers under cool water, then pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Soak the livers in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Dredge each liver in the flour mixture, shaking off excess coating.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  6. Fry the livers in batches for 3-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider using panko breadcrumbs instead of flour. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
