Ingredients
Scale
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup whole milk
1 large egg
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
In another bowl, combine milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
Gradually add the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring just until combined.
In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon, and 1/4 cup melted butter for the topping.
Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture, then add the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the mixture on top.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a richer flavor, serve warm with butter or add a glaze made from powdered sugar and milk.
