Christmas Tree Meringues

Delightful, airy meringues shaped like Christmas trees, perfect for holiday decorations and treats.

  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
  • Mini chocolate chips (for decorations)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar on medium speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until glossy and stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently mix in the vanilla extract and green food coloring until evenly distributed.
  5. Fit a piping bag with a star tip and transfer the meringue into it.
  6. Pipe small tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheet starting from the bottom and swirling upwards.
  7. Decorate each tree with mini chocolate chips.
  8. Bake for about 90 minutes, until easily lifted from parchment paper.
  9. Let cool inside the oven for about an hour.
  10. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature egg whites for best results. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
