Chocolate Vanilla Swirl Cookies

Delightful cookies combining rich chocolate and sweet vanilla, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Add one egg and two teaspoons of vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half, leaving one portion plain and adding an extra tablespoon of cocoa powder to the other half.
  7. Roll out both portions of dough between parchment paper or on a floured surface.
  8. Layer the plain dough at the bottom and chocolate dough on top; roll tightly to form a log.
  9. Chill the logs in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  10. Slice chilled logs into cookies about 1/4 inch thick.
  11. Bake the cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 10-12 minutes.
  12. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

These cookies can be served as is, or with ice cream or coffee for a delightful treat.
