Candied Orange Slices

Transform simple oranges into shiny, sweet, and chewy pieces of candy that can brighten up any dessert or dish.

Instructions

  1. Slice the oranges thinly: Wash the oranges thoroughly and slice them into thin round slices, about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar and water, and bring to a boil: Heat sugar and water over medium heat until sugar dissolves, then bring to a gentle boil.
  3. Reduce heat and add the orange slices to the syrup: Carefully place the orange slices in the syrup and ensure they are submerged.
  4. Simmer for about 45 minutes until the slices are translucent: Allow the orange slices to simmer until they become translucent, stirring occasionally.
  5. Remove from the syrup and place on a wire rack to cool and dry: Carefully remove the slices and let them cool on a wire rack.
  6. Use as a garnish or decoration: Once dried, use the slices to adorn cakes, desserts, or beverages.
