Butternut Squash Apple Bake

A delightful and comforting dish combining sweet apples and nutty butternut squash, perfect for holidays and cozy gatherings.

  • 2 cups butternut squash, peeled and cubed
  • 2 apples, cored and sliced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butternut squash cubes and apple slices.
  3. In another bowl, mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the sugar mixture over the squash and apples, tossing gently to coat.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. If desired, sprinkle with chopped walnuts or pecans and raisins.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the squash is tender and apples are soft.
  8. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
