Best Homemade Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or parchment paper.
  3. Mash the ripe bananas in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Add melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon.
  6. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving some for topping if desired.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle reserved chocolate chips on top.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
