Ingredients
Scale
1.5 pounds flank steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to create a marinade.
Place flank steak inside a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
Remove steak from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, then place it in the hot skillet.
Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
Remove steak from skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain to serve.
Notes
For best flavor, marinate the steak overnight. Adjust cooking times for different doneness levels.
