Best Flank Steak

Juicy and tender flank steak marinated to perfection for a delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds flank steak
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to create a marinade.
  2. Place flank steak inside a resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over. Seal tightly and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours.
  3. Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove steak from marinade, allowing excess to drip off, then place it in the hot skillet.
  5. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting time for desired doneness.
  6. Remove steak from skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain to serve.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate the steak overnight. Adjust cooking times for different doneness levels.
